Danita Johnson

President of Business Operations

Danita Johnson is the President of Business Operations for D.C. United, becoming the first Black president of a Major League Soccer club in January 2021.

With a mission to “Unite Sport. Build Community. Win Championships,” she has led the club to new heights, including hosting the 2022 National Women’s Soccer League Championship, which set attendance records, and the 2023 MLS All-Star Game featuring Arsenal FC.

With over 15 years of experience in sports, Johnson has held leadership roles in the WNBA, NBA, and NBA G League, where she focused on revenue growth, community outreach, and digital marketing.

She was recognized by both Sports Business Journal and ESSENCE in their 2023 40 Under 40 lists.

A native of Fayetteville, North Carolina, and a graduate of Western Carolina University, Johnson also serves on the boards of DC SCORES, Destination DC.

She is a proud member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., and previously served as a WISE Within Mentor.
