Howard Woolley is President of the Howard Woolley Group a strategic business and public policy firm established in 2015 to serve clients such as Microsoft and T-Mobile.

Previously, Howard served as Senior Vice President for wireless public policy for Verizon where he advised all Verizon Wireless CEOs on public policy and government affairs matters from the company’s founding until 2013.

Howard serves on the boards of Apple Hospitality (NYSE: APLE), Allianz Life Insurance of North America, and global telecommunications and toll-free number registry company Somos Incorporated where he is Lead Director and a Member of the company’s Executive Committee.

Howard is a graduate of the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University and holds a graduate management degree from Johns Hopkins University. He serves as a trustee and member of the executive committees of Johns Hopkins and Syracuse University. Howard Co-Chairs Johns Hopkins University & Medicine External Affairs and Community Relations Committee.

Howard has served on the boards of the Executive Leadership Council (ELC), National Urban League, and Unidos US.

He frequently presents on governance topics and has been a featured panelist for the Financial Times, NACD, EY Board Matters, and the Executive Leadership Council. Howard is a member of NACD and the Australian Institute of Company Directors’ international section.
