Vice President, Equity, Inclusion and Diversity
Sandy Harris serves as the vice president of Equity, Inclusion & Diversity (EI&D) for MedStar Health, responsible for the implementation of a comprehensive EI&D strategy, focusing on the integration of EI&D within MedStar Health’s systems, processes and operations impacting the workforce, workplace, community, and clinical care across the System, including addressing healthcare inequities, furthering MedStar Health’s mission—to serve our patients, those who care for them, and our communities.
Since August 2021, Harris led the implementation of MedStar Health’s EI&D efforts as a strategic priority for the System, including establishing its Governing Structure with a Steering Committee, 15 Entity Councils, a Systemwide EI&D Strategy, an EI&D Board Committee, and integration of EI&D within talent related systems and processes. In 2023, Harris partnered with MedStar’s Chief Quality & Safety Officer, to launch the Health Equity arm of the EI&D infrastructure, led by a new AVP of Health Equity who established the operational structure, governing system, action teams, new SDOH Screening processes, and the 4 system priorities for healthcare disparity reduction.
Most recently Harris was included in Becker’s Hospital Review’s list of hospital and health system DEI officers to know in 2023 and 2024.
